Sit, Translucent was designed as part of the Almost Natural research agenda. This research agenda that investigates the relationship between natural and synthetic things.

As in the earlier Sit series, Toast expands the exploration into non-linear fabrication methods and computational design methodologies to question and transform normative everyday objects such as a stool.

Specifically, Toast explores the relationship between casting epoxy resin and rubber into expanded polystyrene (EPS foam) and further activating the chemical reaction with colored pigment. The resultant object integrates two usually contradictory conditons, transparency and texture, to create a condition that questions ideas around the constructed nature/culture binary by being both at the same time.
