This project, set within an urban farm and plant nursery, explores the extension of the landscape into the interior. Taking the communal spaces created underneath the canopy of a palm grove as its starting point, this project proposes a lightweight canopy set on a grid to define an open space that allows for natural light to trickle into the interior.

The use of timber and steel allow for a lightness to emerge, which in turn amplifies the role of the adjacent natural landscape beyond the interior in making communal space. This material conditon and its integration with contemporary digital fabrication techniques allows for a rethinking of historical spatial conditions, such as those underneath a palm grove's canopy, in the 21st century.
