This ongoing single-family residential project explores mass, conceptually conceived as 4 rocks on a landcape, as a primary organizer of public and private space.
The four rocks, designed to be constructed in cast in-situ concrete, support a single horizontal plane that defines column-free interior and exterior spaces. The roof plane is punctured at strategic locations within the residence to allow for internal courtyards and internal gardens.
The private functions of this residence are housed within the solid rocks, each with a view towards the exterior garden. As per the client's request, maximum openness within the public spaces is achieved by providing different sizes, orientations, views and degrees of privacy to allow for a variety of domestic functions.
